Catherine Kiff MA, DIPCC, DIPPCC, MBA

Adult, Child and Adolescent Counsellor and Psychotherapist

UKCP, BACP, HCPC and BATT Registered

I am a qualified and registered counsellor/psychotherapist and integrative arts psychotherapist experienced in working with short, medium and long term clients with a wide range of presenting issues, such as depression, anxiety, grief, loss, trauma, emotional, physical and sexual abuse, bi-polar disorder, eating disorders, family and relationship problems. In addition to my private practice I work across the public, private and voluntary sectors and in research, within the field of mental health.

As a psychotherapist and counsellor, my hope is that by working together you will be able to begin to explore issues that are causing you concern and making life harder than it might be for you. In my private practice I offer a safe and confidential space where I will listen, non-judgmentally, and help you to begin to understand your feelings and thoughts. I work with adults, adolescents and children offering psychotherapy or counselling, depending on the individual needs of the client. I am trained in an integrative approach which supports me in providing a service to meet the individual needs of the client. We are all different and as such don’t all respond in the same way; therefore, I believe it is important to fit the way of working to the client rather than the client to the way of working.

It can be difficult to know where to start and begin to talk about your experiences and what feelings may be brought up by the challenges you face. If you chose to we are able to work with the arts. Integrative arts therapy helps provide emotional support when children, adolescents and adults are faced with experiences in life that they are finding difficult to cope with. Using the arts can help you to communicate your feelings and express your thoughts, which you may find difficult to talk about (this does not require any artistic skill or previous experience of working with the arts).

Along with private practice, I have experience of working in the NHS, Private Heath Care, Hospice, Bereavement Counselling, Education Settings, Dementia Care, Learning Difficulties and Charities helping people with Domestic Violence. Whatever the setting, when working with the client, for me the most important thing is the ability to build up a therapeutic relationship where the client can feel safe, listened to and not judged.

Whether or not you have had therapy before, meeting a new therapist can feel daunting and it is important that the therapist you choose is right for you. In the first meeting we can discuss your focus for therapy and you can ask questions and decide whether you will feel comfortable working with me. With this in mind, my first consultation is free as I believe it is important for you to see if we are able to work together before committing to regular sessions.

I offer one to one therapy sessions on a short, medium and long term basis depending on the needs of the client. Sessions are 50 minutes long at a cost of £50. This can be paid weekly in cash or by BACS transfer. I offer daytime and evening appointments. A small number of concessionary rates are available, which are agreed on an individual basis.
